🟢 Future-proofing your AI strategy against US platform dependency
A playbook for European industrial leaders who want to avoid the next platform lock-in.
Mid-2023, OpenAI's GPT-4 API was priced at $0.06 per 1,000 input tokens. By early 2025, this price had dropped by roughly 90% for comparable capabilities across US platforms. On paper, we have a classic Moore's Law scenario, where cost efficiencies kick in as new technology spreads and scales. The elephant in the room? Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta collectively committed to spending between $800 billion and $1 trillion on extra AI infrastructure through 2027, and current token prices do not come close to covering the cost of that buildout. What industrial organizations are treating as "AI market price" is, in structural terms, a growth subsidy. It will not last indefinitely, and the organizations that are starting to build new ambitious AI workflows are accumulating a dependency they have not yet fully priced.
