π’ Are we past social media?
This week I wanted to discuss the looming menace of the disappearance of social media as we knew them since the early 2000s. And when I say menace, I really mean opportunity for us and yet, foreseeable risks for all the businesses that depend on them.

A key concept I went over and over with is how network effects and critical mass are at the core of social media business models. In practice, pure social media players win or lose everything on establishing a critical mass of interactions. It's their only competitive moat. As such, the biggest social media platforms are fragile to the always possible unbundling of this network effect.
